Employer of Record (EOR) services let you hire full-time talent in a new country without opening a local legal entity there. Instead of spending months and significant legal cost setting up a subsidiary, an EOR becomes the legal employer on paper — handling local payroll, tax withholding, statutory benefits, and compliance — while the worker reports to you day-to-day exactly as any other member of your team would.
Setting up a foreign entity typically takes months, requires ongoing local accounting and legal support, and only makes sense once you have enough headcount in that market to justify the overhead. EOR removes that barrier entirely: you can make an offer, get a contract signed, and have someone working legally in a new country within days rather than months.
The EOR is the legal employer, but you retain full control over the day-to-day working relationship: what the person works on, their reporting line, performance management, and compensation decisions. From the employee's perspective, day-to-day work looks identical to any other role on your team.
EOR is a strong fit when you're testing a new market, hiring a small number of people in a country, or need to move quickly on a specific hire. If you already have significant headcount in a market and expect to keep growing there, opening your own local entity eventually becomes more cost-effective — at which point an EOR relationship can be transitioned into a direct employment setup.
